Located in the heart of Wrocław, Poland, Bernardyńska 4 is redefining what residential design can be—starting with a façade made almost entirely of custom-manufactured thin brick. This 5-story luxury apartment complex, designed by Maćków Design Studio, proves that the right materials don’t just finish a building—they shape its character.

What makes this project truly exceptional is the use of custom red thin brick, created specifically for this development. The architects worked directly with King Klinker to develop a color and texture that pays tribute to the city’s expressionist architecture, while delivering a fresh, modern edge. The result is a zigzagging, sculptural façade that doesn’t just blend into its historic surroundings---it captivates the onlooker and brings renewed focus to the architectural heritage around it.

Recognized with the top prize in the 2024 “Object of the Year in Aluprof Systems” competition, Bernardyńska 4 stands out for its innovation, sustainability, and architectural sensitivity. Situated just steps from the medieval Bernardine monastery and a 20th-century post office, the building draws from its surroundings with classic elements like stepped-back upper levels, decorative cornices, and open loggias—all tied together by the custom thin brick that defines the structure.
